  George C. Starke, 3 n Sycamore, Petersburg VA (1886-1893)
Notes:
Dr. George Cary Starke (1830-1898)2
was born in Belfield (now Emporia) Virginia. He studied and practiced
medicine in Paris France. 3
He eventually came to Petersburg and started a drug store about 1876.
He continued there until 1893. The 1893 city directory is somewhat
contradictory, as it listed Starke as a druggist at 3 n Sycamore
Street in the residential section, but in the business section it said that
James P. Banks
had taken over the store at 3 n Sycamore street.1
There was a newspaper announcement in 1893 that Starke had "disposed his
business" and "removed to Colorado to live". 4
He doesn't show up in the Petersburg city directory from 1895, but he does
in 1897, so he didn't stay away too long. 1
He passed away in 1898 while living in Petersburg.2
