Dr. Peter Benjamin Stickley (1863-1950) was a Doctor in Stephens City, VA. He attended Roanoke College, class of 18911,2.

  In a 1939 newspaper article titled "Dr. Stickley Remembers", Stickley was answering an acusation that Confederate soldiers had burnt and robbed homes in the South. He recounted stories that his mother & other family members had told him about Union soldiers burning homes, and implied Confederate soldiers never did. He also praised Abe Lincoln because he "freed the slaves and whipped us back in the Union".3
