Notes:
Vernon Grant's book lists various dates and addresses for Dove's drugstore, but the ones listed above were adjusted based on various newspaper ads and articles.

Dr. Samuel Ege Dove (1817-1891)6 was a druggist in Richmond VA. The earliest reference I found to him was an 1842 advertisement for his drug store, so he started on or before that year.
He had various partners over the years.

William B. Isaacs became his partner in 1847, and the name of the store changed to "Dove & Isaacs"3.
In 1851, Dove took on a 2nd partner, Alexander B. Archer, and the name was changed to "Dove, Isaacs & Co."4.
By 1860, he had dropped Isaacs and kept Archer, and the name was just "Dove & Co.".7
In 1868, he formed a new co-partnership with D. W. Moseley at a location previously occupied by Blunt & Moseley, with the new store named "Dove & Moseley".5

Dove's drug store was originally located at 33 W Main Street, which was also referred to in early newspaper ads as "Sign of the Black Boy and Mortar, Mansion House, Richmond Va".2
To see who was there before Dove, I did a search of old Richmond newspaper ads for that location, and here are some of the druggists who were there before Dove:
    1827: Thomas Pulling
    1831: Thomas Pulling & Mosco L. Day
    1832: Mosco L. Day

Bottles:

dove_04 This is an aqua 4.7" 3-sided bottle with a glass pontil scar. It is embossed:
vertical: TURF OIL DOVE & Co / RICHMOND VA.
base: (glass pontil scar)
dove_02 This is the same as the bottle above, but it doesn't have the pontil scar on the base. It's an aqua 4.7" 3-sided bottle embossed:
vertical: TURF OIL DOVE & Co / RICHMOND VA.
dove_06a dove_06b This is similar to the smooth-based bottle above, but it's embossed differently and it has a label. It is a clear, 3-sided, 4.8" mouth-blown bottle that says:
embossed on one side: DOVE'S TRUE TURF OIL
label (top squres): TRUE TURF OIL, FOR Sores of every kind which Mar the Form of MAN OR BEAST
label (between top squres): EUREKA OF MEDICINES For every Creature that moves on the turf
label (in rectangle): TRUE TURF OIL One teasponful ... S.E. DOVE SOLE PROPRIETOR RICHMOND, VA.
label (below rectangle): Manufactured and sold by Powers-Taylor Drug Co., Lessees, Richmond, VA.
dove_03 This is a tall, aqua 9.25" snap-case mold bottle embossed:
vertical: DOVE & Co. / RICHMOND.
dove_01 This ia an aqua 6.2" mouth-blown bottle embossed:
right panel:DOVE & Co
left panel:RICHMOND. VA
dove_05 This is a clear, 4" mouth-blown bottle embossed:
in oval slugplate:DOVE / (picture of a dove) / RICHMOND VA
The dove picture sticks out about 1/8th of an inch. The other embossing is weak so I photographed the bottle with the sky in the background to make the embossing stand out.
