T.J. Hatch

Notes:
 Thomas J. Hatch (1836-1917) was a private in the Civil War, and after the war he owned and ran an apothecary in Rhoadesville VA.1

He shows up in the 1888 Chataignes Virginia Gazetteer (Orange County section) as running a post office and being a general merchant in Rhoadesville, but it does not specifically list him as a drug store owner. 2

He shows up as a drugstore owner in the Era Druggist directories that I have access to, in the years from 1905 to 1921.3
He passed away in 19171, so someone else must have taken over his store (and kept his name) at some point, but I could not find out who that was.


Bottles:
hatch_01 This is a clear 7" tall unembossed bottle with a label:
partial label: ... Hatch, Druggist / ... Rhoads ... Va.
There is a enough of a label there to assume this was from T.J. Hatch, who was a druggist in Rhoadesville. The label seems to have another label under it, possibly from "Ricketts" in nearby Orange VA.
