in 1881, and started his own drugstore.
He had been in the drugstore business for about 12 years prior to
that time. 3
He ran his store until 1890, at which time he sold it to
J.W.S. Butt.4
He continued in the drug business as a travelling salesman.
Many of the drugstore men in Portsmouth learned the business
from him. 5
