Notes:
George A. Minetree (1843-1909)2 was listed in Petersburg city directories from 1866-1882 as a druggist or drug clerk. 1
In the 1879 city directory, both he and David Hugh Jackson (1859-1930)3 were listed as drug clerks at the W.E. French drug store.1

In 1886, the two of them teamed up took over the William H. Camp drug store at 225 n Sycamore Street, renaming it "Minetree & Jackson".4

By 1891, they had split up and Minetree became the sole owner. In that year's city directory, Jackson's occupation was listed as "oil and grease".1

By 1897, Minetree's drug store had closed, with William E. Armstrong & Co taking over the location. Minetree's occupation was listed as a clerk that year, but in subsequent years he was listed as an Assistant Postmaster.

Minetree was a Civil War veteran, a member of A.P. Hill's camp, and present at the surrender at Appomattox.5

Ferdinand Meyer V wrote an article about Minetree & Jackson's Magic Bitters. See: "https://peachridgeglass.com/2014/03/is-the-magic-bitters-related-to-the-penns-pony-bitters/" .
