Notes:
The 1950 US Census listed William Walter Scott (1829-1896)5 as a student of medicine.
He first shows up as a drugstore owner in 1866, with a newspaper announcement that "Dr W. W. Scott & Bro." had purchased the stand formerly occupied by Dr. W. H. Barnes at 29 Church Street. The notification included the name of his much younger brother, James Elijah Scott (1843-1911)6 who was 14 years younger than William.2

The city directories in subsequent years have the address as 254 Church Street. The city directories also don't mention the "& bro" in the firm name agian until 1877.
1877 is also the year that the announcement was made that the firm was disolved by mutual consent, with William dropping out and James taking over as the sole owner. 3
I could not find out what happened to William after that time, although I did see newspaper ads for James selling "Dr W.W. Scott's Ague & Fever Mixture", presumably a concoction created by his older brother. 7

James E. Scott continued to run the business until his death in 1911. 1

There was also a drugstore called "Scott & Leary" in the 1872 city directory - I could not find whether or not the "Scott" in that firm was William, James, one of their siblings, or totally unrelated.
