Notes:
Claude Richard Hoggard (1884-1946) 3 is listed in the 1900 US Census as age 16, occupation "Paper Carrier".
In subsequent years, he was a clerk for Burrow, Martin & Co drug store, until 1908, when he opened his own drugstore.2

In December 1908, Hoggard advertised that his customers could phone in orders, and they would be delivered by bicycle.4

Hoggard's drug store is not listed in city directories between 1912 and 1919, but it picks up again in 1920, at a new location. I suspect that the address "2612 Lafayette Blvd" listed in the 1920 Norfolk city directory was a misprint, as it was "2512" not "2612" in subsequent years. 1

The 1925 Norfolk city directory lists Hoggard as a "confectioner" at 2512 Lafayette Blvd, which was the same address as his drug store, so apparently he had given up his drugstore business.
