Notes:
Macon Ware (1890-1952)5 was a 32nd degree Mason. He
graduated from the University of Richmond in 1913. 6
He came to Falls Church in December 1915, and bought the Mankin Drug
Store.
George Mankin (1844-1914)7
had owned the drug store store over the previous 15 years.1
A new building at 6843 Lee Highway was constructed in 1935, and Ware moved
his business into the first floor. 2
That building was in Arlington County, although the area was referred
to as "East Falls Church".
Ware retired in 19456, but his drugstore continued
operation under the same name.
The pharmacy with his name continued in Arlington until at least 19643,
and eventually moved to 200 Little Falls Street, which is in Falls Church. 4
Ware opened his second drug store in 1937.1
It was originally called the "Falls Church Pharmacy", although it was
sometimes referred to as the "Falls Church Drug Store", and the
"Falls Church Drug Center".
The "Ware's Pharmacy" (his first drug store) closed down and merged with
"Falls Church Pharmcy" (his 2nd drug store) in 1987. 4
The store eventually closed in 1999.4
