C.D. Gitt & Co

Company Names, addresses, dates1:
C.D. Gitt & Co, Corner Keen & North Main Sts, Danville VA (c.1880 - c.1890s)
Charles D. Gitt, 631 North Main St, Danville VA (c.1900s)

Notes:
Charles Dayton Gitt (1859-1922) was a druggist in Danville VA.2
He is also listed as a partner in the "Gitt & Jefferson" grocery store in the 1881 Danville City directory.
He ran his own drug store starting as early as 1881, and ending on or after 1908. It was called "C.D. Gitt & Co" in the 1881 and 1892 directories, and just "Charles D. Gitt" in the 1902,04 and 08 directories. His 2 drugstore addresses, "Corner Keen & North Main Street" and "631 North Main Street" seem to refer to the same corner and probably the same building.1
In later years, he seems to have sold his store, but remained in the drug store business. The 1917 directory lists him as the manager of the McFalls North Side Drug Store at 631 Main St (the same location that his own drug store was at), and the 1921 directory lists him as a pharmacist for the Jones Drug Store.1
