Chatham Pharmacy

Company Names, addresses, dates:
  Chatham Pharmacy, Chatham VA

Notes:
The earliest reference I found to the Chatham Pharmacy was a Dec-21-1900 article in the Richmond Times (page 3), that mentioned the marriage of John Martin Jones (1876-1950)1, who was at that time a junior member of the Chatham Pharmacy.
In 1902 Jones bought out one of his partners, Mr. James W. Collie2.
In 1907, Jones accidentally shot himself in the foot. He had his foot X-rayed and then had surgery to remove the bullet3. I was surprised to learn that they had X-rays that early.
Also in 1907, the Chatham Pharmacy relocated to a new building4. Then in 1931, that building was damaged in a fire, but insurance covered the damages5.
The last reference to the Chatham Pharmacy I found from searching newspapers was in 1938, so I don't know how much longer the drug store lasted after that.

Bottles:

chatham_01 This is a green, 4.8" BIM bottle embossed:
vertical: Chatham Pharmacy / J.M. JONES PROP. / Chatham, Va.
chatham_04 This is a clear 7" (8 oz) machine-made bottle with a white Applied Color Label (ACL) that says:
vertical ACL: (picture of scales with the words ACCURACY and PURITY) / Chatham Pharmacy / J.M. JONES / Main St., CHATHAM, VA.
embossed on the base: [K] 5

Other Items:
chatham_02 This is a postcard depicting the Interior of the Chatham Pharmacy. It is postmarked 1913.
The 1910 Census lists Jones as 34 years old with 3 children, ages 2,4 and 8 years old. So my guess is that he's the one holding a child, depicted on the right side of this post card.
