Notes:
In october 1882, Ernest Linwood Allen (1856-1939)9 teamed up with C.J.W. Summers to create the Summers & Allen drug store on the NW corner of King & Royal Streets. 1
They had purchased the drugstore of Janny & Co, including it's stock and apparatus for making soda water.10
In October of 1884, they opened a new location at the NW corner of King & Pitt Streets. At this point, their business was referred to as a "Drug Store and Soda Water Manufactory".2
In March of 1889, they split the business, with Summers taking over the Soda Water business, and Allen taking over the drugstore3.

In June 1892, Allen sold his store to Edgar Warfield and he partnered with John Lunt, at 631 King Street, with the new drugstore named "Lunt & Allen". 4
In 1894, John Lunt withdrew from that partnership, leaving Allen as the sole owner of that drug store5.
Allen then teamed up with Dr. John E. W. Timberman (1876-1962)11 and the store was called "Ernest L. Allen & Co", with Timberman being the "& Co"4.

In 1905, the store moved from 631 King Street to 701 King Street, basically across the street from the NE corner to the NW corner of King and Washington streets.6
Then in 1919 Allen retired, leaving the store in the hands of his partner Dr. Timberman.7

A museum display at the Lyceum in Alexandria indicated that Timberman ran the store until his retirement in 1943, and that the store continued to be called Timberman's until it closed down.
It closed for good in 2004.12
