C&O Canal Coins

Notes:
This page contains various coins that were minted to commemorate the canal in some way.

coin_04 This coin commemorates the 1937 sesquicentenial of Cumberland, MD. I don't know if it was actually minted in that year, but it appears to be old enough for that to be the case.
coin_02 This coin from 1962 commemorates the civil war centenial in Williamsport MD. It mentions the C&O Canal and depicts a boat on the canal.
coin_01 This coin from 1963 commemorates the 200-year aniversary of Sharpsburg MD. It mentions the C&O Canal and depicts a boat on the canal.
coin_07 This is a wooden coin from the year 1977. It is from the C&O Canal Days festival at Williamsport MD.
coin_03 This is a wooden coin from the year 2000 that commemorates the 150-year aniversary of the completion of the canal from Georgetown to Cumberland.
coin_05 This appears to be a copper penny that was squished into a C&O Canal park coin.
coin_06 This is a fairly new coin that commemorates the canal. The packaging had the date 2002, so that's probably about the time it was minted.
